મકરરાશિ માં પ્રવેશે, એ દિવસે સૂર્ય
દાન-ધર્માદા સાથે માનવ કરે ખૂબ પુણ્ય
પતંગ, ફિરકી અને માંજાની જામે ખૂબ જોડી
પવન સામે ઓશિયાળા લોકો રહે હાથ જોડી
ઉમટે એ મહેરામણ અગાસી એ ચડી
પતંગ ના યુદ્ધ માં આવે મજા ઘણી
પરિવાર, મિત્રો ને પાડોશી ચડાવે ખૂબ પતંગ
લપેટ! તારો પતંગ ગયો, આવે ખૂબ ઉમંગ
ચીકી, સાની, લાડું નો કરે આ સમયે સંગ
ઊંધિયું અને શેરડી ભળે તો જામે સરખો રંગ
સંગીત સાથે અન્ય ધ્વનિઓ છે ઘણા બીજા
રાત્રિ સમયે ફટાકડા સાથે ફાનસ ઘણા દીઠા
સમયના સથવારે આજે છે ઓછો રંગ
ઉત્સાહની ઊણપ વર્તાય, કે છે કોઈ બીજો વ્યંગ?
કપરી પરિસ્થિતિ ના કાળમાં સહે સૌ બહુ
શીખવે છે આ તહેવારો, જીવનમાં છે માણવાનું ઘણું.
Translated as:
Sun enters Makar Rashi (Capricorn) on this day,
Man does a lot of good deeds with charity
Very pair of kite and manja (strong thread) makes it interesting
people be helpless if it weren’t for the wind
People march onto their terraces for this joy
The war between kites is enjoyed by all
Family, friends, and neighbors fly so many kites
Recollect your thread; I just cut yours
Chiki, saani and laddu are enjoyed at this point
Undhiyu(dish of mixed vegetables) and sugarcane makes it more joyous
There is music along with different sounds
At night it looks good to see lanterns along with fireworks
Along with these times, the joy today is lesser
Is this lack of excitement? Or anything other!!
People tolerate so much in these difficult times
